The activities are conducted in two sectors
RESEARCH AND EXTENSION
RESEARCH SECTOR is formed of next laboratories:
Amelioration and multiplication of biological material
Technologies in viticulture Health protection of the plants
Technologies for processing of grapes and the wines chemistry
Key areas of research are:
- creation of clones and varieties adapted to ecosystems in Dobrogea, resistant to drought and to disease and pest attack;
- Behavior study of the Romanian and international vine varieties, in the ampelographic collections of the centre, authentic genetic banks needed to the amelioration. - Specific technologies regarding the optimization of using the typical ecopedoclimatic resources to Dobrogea;
- Integrated protection of plants, biological control of the major pests in the vineyard;
- Technologies for organic cultivation of some vines plantations;
- Wines microbiology;
- Modern methods of analysis and quality control of wines and spirits.
SECTOR of EXTENSION is composed of:
Experimental basis I formed of:
- Ampelographic collections;
- Experimental polygons;
- Pilot lots;
Experimental Basis II formed of:
- Mother plantations for material for grafting and rootstock - base categories and certified;
- Nursery;
- Microvinification station - the place for processing and conditioning of the wines;
Cellar COLLECTION - where are stored wines to research to studying their progress over the time.
Sector Extension serves as the pilot unit for the research sector, is so organized that it can prove that research results can be verified under micro production conditions for their fundamentation and homologation.
