The viticulture plantations are placed on beveled steep plateaus, gently sloping sides and predominantly south and south – west exposures. In the south side of the territory these ones are crossed by the old Carasu Valley, in the present day Danube Black Sea Canal. The altitudes of the plantations vary between 50-80 m.
The climates have an excessive continental character which is given by the very distinct contrast between winter and summer. The global thermal balance records values of 4200 0C – the sum of temperature degrees, of which only during the vegetation period of the vine summing up to 3500 0C. The specific aridity of the Murfatlar viticulture center, characterized by 450 mm annual precipitations of which only half of them fall during the period of vegetation, is strengthen by the frequent winds – almost daily ones.
The predominant soil type is “calcareous chernozem”, rich in carbonates. The structure is an average one, the humus percentage varying between 1,8-3%.
